General information about the project/measure


Please note:
All submitted material will be checked carefully by the organizer and presented to a jury for evaluation and election. Website references do not replace answering the questions.

For a general overview, we initially need some tourism related, economic and general data concerning your project/measure. Please answer the following questions 1 to 10 (in a separate document, about 5 pages).
We will keep this information strictly confidential.

Please feel free to complement your answers with suitable material and documents (e.g. project information, press reports, expert opinions, photographs or video material).

  1. Please describe in brief the three most important reasons why, in your opinion, the entered project/measure should be awarded a TO DO!

  2. Please illustrate in brief the history of the origins and development of your project. When, why, through whom was it founded and implemented?

  3. What is the concept of your tourism programmes, what are you offering?

  4. Please enclose a map showing where exactly your project is situated.

  5. How is the project marketed? Are there partnerships with tour operators or travel agencies?

  6. Since the start of your project, how has the number of guests developed year by year?

  7. Economically speaking, are you able to stand on your own feet? Do you make any profit yet?
    Are you in a position to build up equity capital?

  8. Is the project/measure supported and accompanied by outside institutions/cooperation partners? If so, since when and through whom? When will this support or consultancy be terminated?

  9. Are there links/networks with similar projects or institutions in other regions or countries?

Questions concerning contest criteria

All submitted material will be checked carefully by the organizer and presented to a jury for evaluation and election. Website references do not replace answering the questions.

Answering question 1 to 8 (contest criteria) is the most important part of your application (please mind a limitation of about 10 pages). Explanation of question 1 about participation is the most important one.

Please explain in a separate document how and to which extent your project/measure is in line with the contest criteria of the TO DO! (questions 1 to 8).

Please feel free to complement your answers also with suitable material and documents (e.g. project information, press reports, expert opinions, photographs or video material).

  1. Participation:
    How have the different interests and needs of the local people been taken into account from planning to implementation of project/measure?

  2. Awareness raising:
    In the framework of your project/measure, in which way has the awareness of the local population been raised in respect to the opportunities and risks of tourism development and its effects on economic, social and cultural aspects?

  3. Broad effect:
    In which way has a broad part of population been benefiting from economic, social and cultural effects of tourism in the framework of your project/measure?

  4. Qualified jobs in tourism:
    In which way have decent jobs in tourism and income for the local people been created, or the attractiveness of jobs ensured through your project/measure (e.g. through improved working conditions in terms of remuneration, social security, working hours, further education, and training)?

  5. Strengthening cultural identity:
    How has the local culture as well as the cultural identity of local people in the tourism destinations been enhanced by your project/measure? How can tourism-related social or cultural damages be minimized or avoided?

  6. Environmental compatibility:
    Could you give examples which document that your project/measure is environmentally sound?

  7. Gender equity:
    Are there any examples which document that women as well as men participate in the planning/implementation phase of your project/measure? Considering gender relations, have there been any improvements through your project/measure?

  8. Safeguarding the future:
    Through which measures/mechanisms is the economic and institutional sustainability of the project ensured? For the future of the project, where do you see problems and risks?
